Best $500 Wedding Ring Ideas

The average person spends around $1,000 on a wedding band and upwards of $5,000 on an engagement ring, but there’s no rule that says you have to! I love jewelry and have been making and wearing it for a long time. I have to say, my favorite, most sentimental pieces are not always my most expensive.

There are plenty of $500 wedding rings that are gorgeous and unique and won’t eat up your entire wedding budget. We all know that the actual value of a wedding ring is sentimental, so it shouldn’t matter what you spend. It doesn’t hurt to have extra cash left to add to a honeymoon or house fund, either!

Below is my list of the best $500 wedding rings. They’re all gorgeous, durable, and well made, and you won’t have to go into debt to afford one! I split the rings into four categories: Best $500 Engagement Rings, Best $500 Women’s Wedding Rings, Best $500 Men’s Wedding Rings, and Best $500 Gender Neutral Rings, so if you’re looking for something specific, feel free to jump ahead! My favorites from each category are below.

My Picks at a Glance – My Favorite Rings in Each Category

  1. Criss-Cross Marquise Sapphire Solitaire Ring with Diamonds — Best $500 Engagement Ring
  2. Round Forever One Moissanite Shared Prong Eternity Band — Best $500 Women’s Wedding Ring
  3. Round Edge Swirl Finish Wedding Band — Best $500 Men’s Wedding Ring
  4. Princess-Cut Black Diamond Solitaire Engagement Ring — Best $500 Gender Neutral Ring

How to Save Money When Shopping For a Wedding Ring

  1. Set a Budget — The first thing you should do when shopping for engagement and wedding rings is set a budget. Determine how much you’re comfortable spending and stick to it!
  2. Determine What You Like — Figuring out what type of ring you’re looking for will help narrow down your search and make it easier to allocate your budget. If you want a simple solitaire engagement ring and plain metal bands, you’ll have plenty of options regardless of your budget. If you prefer a halo setting and pavé band, you may need to consider diamond alternatives for your rings.
  3. Shop the Sales — Many online retailers offer year-round discounts as well as seasonal sales. They also have a ton of gorgeous jewelry in their website’s sale and clearance sections.
  4. Opt for Less Expensive Materials — Choosing less expensive (but still high quality!) materials can save you a ton of money on your rings. Your ring doesn’t need to be made with platinum and diamonds to be special and beautiful! Some of my favorite money-saving ring materials are:
    • Lab-Grown Diamonds — while not cheap, lab-grown diamonds tend to be less expensive than mined diamonds. They’re also more ethical!
    • Moissanite — one of my favorite stones for engagement rings; moissanite is made from space dust and is a gorgeous, sparkly, ethically-obtained stone.
    • Morganite — this pink blush member of the beryl family is a gorgeous choice for an engagement ring.
    • Diamond Simulates — some diamond simulates, such as Nexus Diamonds, are durable and inexpensive options for engagement jewelry. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing a cubic zirconia ring, however. You want your engagement ring to last, and unfortunately, cubic zirconia will become cloudy over time.
    • Gemstones — I love gemstone engagement rings! They’re perfect if you’re looking for something less traditional. You can choose a birthstone or a gem with sentimental meaning to you (or just pick a color you like!)
    • Alternative Metals — Although I don’t love sterling silver for a wedding ring (it tends to tarnish), there are several silver rings on this list. If it means the difference between finding your dream ring and staying on budget, it’s not the worst compromise to make. There are a lot of simple bands, especially for men, in inexpensive metals such as titanium and tantalum as well.

My Picks for Best $500 Wedding Rings — Selection Criteria

I chose the rings on this list because they offer the best quality and value $500 can buy. All of the rings on this list are made from high-quality materials, and most are sustainable. Durability is essential in a wedding ring since you’ll most likely wear it every day.

Most of these rings were made to last, though I’ve noted the ones where extra care may be needed. Finally, I chose these rings because I thought they were all beautiful, showcased a variety of styles, and would pair nicely with other wedding bands and engagement rings.

Best $500 Engagement Rings

Below is a list of what I think are the best engagement rings you can buy for around $500.

Sage Classic Princess Cut Engagement Ring

Sage Classic Princess Cut Engagement Ring

Diamond Nexus is a company that sells its own proprietary diamond simulates. They are not lab diamonds since they’re chemically different from diamonds, but they are created to mimic the most desirable properties of a diamond. Nexus Diamonds are clear, sparkly, and durable and are a great cost-effective and ethical alternative to diamonds.

This princess-cut ring is elegant and glamorous. I love princess-cut stones and especially love the peek-a-boo detail on the side of this ring. Buy here for $530.

Pros

  • Get the look of a diamond engagement ring for a fraction of the price
  • Two different metal color options
  • Diamond Nexus also sells a corresponding wedding band for $320

Cons

  • Nexus Diamonds are not real diamonds
  • Nexus Diamonds are not as hard as diamonds or moissanite

Criss-Cross Marquise Sapphire Solitaire Ring with Diamonds

Sapphire Solitaire Ring with Diamonds

I love the graceful, twisting band on this elegant sapphire ring from the Angara. It makes the ring feel organic and nature-inspired but still refined. Marquise cut center stones are unique and sophisticated-looking, and the diamond accents add the perfect amount of extra sparkle. This is one of the most high-quality rings on this list in terms of attention to detail. Buy here for $579.

Pros

  • Elegant, refined-looking ring
  • Three metal color options
  • Well made with gorgeous detail
  • Perfect for a September birthstone ring

Cons

  • Colored center stone may be too unconventional for a traditionalist
  • The shape of the band may make it difficult to pair with a wedding ring

Emerald-Cut Solitaire Morganite Infinity Twist Ring

Emerald-Cut Solitaire

I don’t think morganite gets enough credit when it comes to alternative engagement rings. The dreamy, pale pink stone is a member of the Beryl family, along with emerald and aquamarine. It’s not quite as hard as a diamond, sitting at around a 7.5 on the Mohs scale, but it’s durable enough for daily wear, provided you take care of it. Morganite is also considerably more affordable than diamonds or moissanite!

I love the large emerald-cut center stone on this ring. It really is a showstopper. The diamonds set in the twisting band add to the romance as well. The band is sterling silver, which means it will need regular cleaning to prevent tarnishing. Several types of gold are available for this ring, but for a higher price. Buy here for $539.

Pros

  • Huge center stone for the price
  • Plenty of attention to detail in the diamond and scrollwork on the band

Cons

  • Sterling silver ring will tarnish over time (three colors of gold and platinum settings are available for this ring but for a higher price)

Bezel-Set Pear Diamond Solitaire Ring

Solitaire Ring

I love this sweet and straightforward pear-shaped engagement ring from Angara. It’s unfussy and chic and would be perfect for an active bride. The bezel setting is very secure, which means this ring will last forever. Buy here for $559.

Pros

  • Simple, well-made design
  • Available in your choice of three metal colors
  • Real diamond center stone

Cons

  • Might be too simple for some people
  • Not everyone likes the look of a bezel setting

Solitaire Oval Opal Criss Cross Ring with Diamonds

Criss Cross Ring with Diamonds

I actually debated over whether or not to include this ring on the list for a very long time. I decided it was just too pretty not to include. Still, I want you to be able to make an informed buying decision, so I need to stress that opal is not hard enough for everyday wear. If you do decide to purchase this ring as an engagement ring, know that the center stone will scratch pretty easily (opal falls around a 5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, vs. diamond which is 10).

That being said, I think this ring is breathtaking. The dreamy center opal is flanked by crossing bands and diamonds on the shoulder, giving it a fairytale-like sparkle. There’s nothing like the play of color in an opal.

You can definitely use a ring like this as an engagement ring; it requires extra caution and care compared to a diamond ring. If you work with your hands, I suggest replacing this with a silicone ring while working. Buy here for $559.

Pros

  • Stunning center opal
  • Looks more expensive than it is

Cons

  • Opal is a softer stone than diamond, meaning this ring needs to be handled with care.
  • Sterling silver will tarnish and requires more upkeep. Gold options are available for this ring, but for a higher price.

Square Cluster Diamond Engagement Ring

Square Cluster Diamond Engagement Ring

I think this ring is really cool. The square center “stone” is actually a cluster of tiny diamonds set in a square shape. It’s a great way to get the look of a traditional diamond engagement ring for a fraction of the price. This contemporary take on a classic ring is definitely sparkly and will absolutely be a conversation piece.

It is made with sterling silver, though the setting is durable. It will most likely withstand the regular cleaning necessary for upkeep. Still, you should always exercise caution and be gentle when cleaning jewelry. The ring is available in three different colors of gold, but those will cost you an extra $300 or so. Buy here for $559.

Pros

  • Contemporary take on a classic ring
  • Affordable, sparkly diamond ring

Cons

  • Sterling silver will tarnish over time
  • Some people might not like the cluster diamond look

Organic Hammered Wedding Band

I love a simple, textured wedding band, and I think this one from Blue Nile is perfect. It’s slender but not too thin and comes in your choice of three metal colors. I love that the hammered texture catches the light and gives the wedding band a subtle hint of sparkle. Buy here for $490.

Aimee Milgrain Wedding Ring

Aimee Milgrain Wedding Ring

This delicate milgrain ring from Brilliant Earth is so charming. I love the intricate detail work of the band. This is such a sweet, romantic wedding ring, and it comes in your choice of three different metal colors in the under $500 range! Buy here for $490.

Pros

Diamond Chevron Stackable Fashion Ring

Diamond Chevron Stackable Fashion Ring

This ring from Blue Nile is my favorite $500 contour band. I’m pretty amazed that it was only $500. The delicate wave of pavé diamonds will add just the right amount of sparkle to enhance any engagement ring without stealing the spotlight. Buy here for $475.

Pros

  • Chevron contour will fit many different engagement ring styles

  • The ring may not hold up to regular, daily wear
  • Only four ring sizes are available (5-8)

Half Eternity Seven Stone Blue Diamond Wedding Band

Blue Diamond Wedding Band

I love this modern take on a half eternity ring from Angara. The blue-green color of the diamonds is striking and makes this ring feel unique. Half eternity bands are an excellent choice for a wedding ring. The diamonds add extra sparkle to enhance your engagement ring, but the band still fits comfortably on your finger. Buy here for $539.

Pros

  • Comes in three different metal colors
  • The colored diamonds are beautiful and durable

Cons

  • Blue colored diamonds won’t match every engagement ring

Round Forever One Moissanite Shared Prong Eternity Band

ring

If you’re looking for a $ 500-eternity band, look no further. This ring from Charles & Colvard is precisely what I would want in an eternity band, regardless of price, and it’s another ring that I’m amazing falls in the $500 range. It’s set with Forever One Moissanite, one of my favorite stones, which means it is incredibly sparkly, durable, and sustainable! You really can’t ask for much more. Buy here for $589.

Pros

  • Moissanite is a sustainable, eco-friendly stone that’s almost as hard as a diamond and even more brilliant.
  • The full eternity band is sparkly and pairs well with most engagement ring styles.
  • Other metal colors are available under separate listings

Cons

  • Some people find full eternity bands uncomfortable to wear
  • Eternity bands often can’t be resized

Hand-Engraved Wedding Ring

Hand-Engraved Wedding Ring

I love this romantic, vintage-inspired wedding band. The engraving adds sparkle and a little extra something to the band, and you don’t have to break the bank on diamonds! This particular ring from Blue Nile has limited availability, but several similar styles are listed on their site. Buy here for $590.

Pros

  • Delicate, romantic band
  • The simple style will look lovely on its own or paired with an engagement ring

Cons

  • Only comes in one metal option
  • Limited size availability

Best $500 Men’s Wedding Rings

Below are my picks for the best $500 men’s wedding bands.

Matte Two-Tone Wedding Ring

Matte Two-Tone Wedding Ring

This matte black wedding band from Blue Nile is made from titanium and tantalum, a new addition to Blue Nile’s sustainable metals. It’s hypo-allergenic and scratch-resistant and is naturally a blue-gray color.

I love the matte finish on this ring and the subtle two-tone detail that will be almost hidden when the ring is worn. This is a great wedding band for someone who leads an active lifestyle since it’s incredibly durable and scratch-resistant. Buy here for $550.

Pros

  • Very durable and scratch-resistant
  • Hypoallergenic

Cons

  • This ring can not be resized
  • The design may be too plain or casual for some people’s taste

Gray Tantalum Treeline Comfort-Fit Band

Gray Tantalum Treeline Comfort-Fit Band

This forest wedding band from James Allen is an excellent option for an outdoorsy groom. The black tree details look stunning against the gray background. I also love that this ring is durable, something an outdoor enthusiast will appreciate! Buy here for $502.

Pros

  • Great wedding band for an outdoor enthusiast
  • Very durable, scratch-resistant ring

Cons

  • Tree detail won’t suit everyone’s style

Round Edge Swirl Finish Wedding Band

Round Edge Swirl Finish Wedding Band

I think that this is the most elegant men’s wedding ring on this list. I love the swirled texture of the center of the band juxtaposed with its polished, rounded edges. This ring, another from Blue Nile, is also made from tantalum, which means it’s incredibly durable as well as beautiful. Buy here for $490.

Pros

  • Very durable and scratch-resistant
  • Gorgeous, swirled texture
  • Simple and elegant

Cons

  • This ring can’t be resized

Best $500 Gender Neutral Rings

Below are some of my favorite gender-neutral wedding and engagement rings that are each around $500.

Princess-Cut Black Diamond Solitaire Engagement Ring

Princess-Cut Black

I love this bold, contemporary solitaire ring from Angara. It’s elegant but not too delicate, making it an excellent option for someone looking for a modern, striking engagement ring. I love the detail of the crossing band in the gallery. Buy here for $589.

Pros

  • The center stone is a real black diamond.
  • The simple style will work well with a variety of wedding bands
  • The ring can be made with white, yellow, or rose gold for no additional charge

Cons

  • Band might be too chunky for some people’s taste
  • Modern style won’t suit everyone’s taste

Split Shank Cushion London Blue Topaz Ring

London Blue Topaz Ring

I can’t believe this ring is only $500! Ok, technically, it’s almost $600, but with one of Angara’s frequent sales, you could get it down closer to $500. This topaz and diamond ring is so elegant, and it looks expensive. I think this would be an excellent engagement ring for someone looking for a modern take on a traditional ring. The slightly wider yet tapered band is universally flattering, and the color of the center topaz is dreamy. Buy here for $599.

Pros

  • Comes in rose, yellow, or white gold for no additional charge
  • Gorgeous blue/green topaz center stone and genuine diamond accents

Cons

  • Almost $600 when not on sale
  • While topaz is hard enough for daily wear (8 mohs,) it’s not as hard as a diamond

Oval Solitaire Rhodolite Cocktail Ring

Oval Solitaire Rhodolite Cocktail Ring

I just adore the luscious color of this rhodolite ring. It’s the perfect purplish-red berry hue, making this ring from Angara stand out. This is definitely an engagement ring for someone who wants to make a statement! One thing to note is that it’s made from sterling silver, which will tarnish over time. The rhodolite center stone is softer than a diamond, so while this ring is still relatively durable, it might not be the best option for someone super active. Buy here for $529.

Pros

  • Huge, gorgeous, colorful center stone
  • Perfect for someone looking for a bold and unconventional but not too fussy engagement ring

Cons

  • Rhodolite is around a 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, so it’s not as hard as a diamond.
  • Sterling silver tends to tarnish over time and will need regular polishing
  • Other metals are available for this ring but will almost double the price

FAQ

Question: How much should I spend on a wedding ring?

Answer: How much you want to spend on wedding rings is up to you and your partner, but you should definitely know your budget before you begin shopping. You may fall in love with a ring at the top of your budget, or decide that you’d rather spend that extra money on your wedding or honeymoon.

I would recommend that you don’t put yourself in debt because you think you need to impress your friends and relatives with a large diamond! It’s a piece of jewelry and will have sentimental value regardless of how much you spend.

Question: How much does the average wedding ring cost?

Answer: The average cost of an engagement ring in America is around $5000, and the average wedding band costs $1000. However, that doesn’t mean you need to hit or exceed those averages. Figure out your budget and find a ring you love without spending more than you’re comfortable with.

Question: Who buys the wedding rings?

Answer: Traditionally, a couple buys wedding bands for each other, but it has become much more common for couples to shop for wedding bands and even engagement rings together.

Final Thoughts

It’s easier than you might think to find a wedding ring for $500. There are many options online, but the ones on this list are the rings that I think are the best $500 can buy. Since a wedding ring is usually worn every day and is meant to last a lifetime, you want to find the best quality ring for your money. A ring like the Forever One Moissanite Eternity Band from Charles & Colvard is beautiful, affordable, and will last for generations.
