UrbanStems Wedding Bouquet Review

Wedding planning has a way of making you second-guess what you actually want. Between Pinterest, parents, and a million “helpful” suggestions, it can be tough to tell the difference between your dream wedding and what you think you’re supposed to want.

If you want to think outside the box for your wedding, don’t let anyone talk you out of it (unless you’re planning an underwater ceremony because…logistics). There are plenty of ways to do things a little differently, whether it’s to save some money, make wedding prep easier, or just execute your dream vision.

One of my favorite ways to think outside the box is with decor. I got the bulk of my wedding flowers online, and I wouldn’t have done it any other way. After trying out a wedding bouquet from UrbanStems recently, I kind of wish I’d known about them when I was getting ready to walk down the aisle. Here’s what I thought.

Using UrbanStems for Your Wedding Flowers

So first, I wouldn’t necessarily classify UrbanStems as a “wedding flower” site. They sell gorgeous arrangements (and some gifts) and are more of a boutique flower delivery service. That being said, they have a ton of Pinterest-worthy arrangements that are just screaming to be used in a wedding.

One thing to keep in mind: because UrbanStems uses so many seasonal flowers, they may not have every arrangement available all year. They do seem to keep some classics as well as a variety of color palettes throughout the year, though, so if you go this route, I don’t think it will be difficult to find flowers that coordinate with the look you’re going for.

What They Don’t Do

UrbanStems is not the place to go if you’re looking for big ceremony flowers, garlands, runners, premade boutonnieres, or big kits of loose stems for you to DIY your own flowers. Basically, if you want a florist-designed arrangement that you can hold in your hand or pop into a vase, they’ve got you. If you want something else, they might not be the right choice. Depending on your vibe, you could definitely use clusters of their arrangements as ceremony flowers or theoretically pull them apart and rearrange them.

What I’d Use UrbanStems for in a Wedding

If I were going to use UrbanStems for wedding flowers, I’d mostly stick to any type of arrangement that looks like a classic bouquet; like I said above, anything you can hold in your hand or place in a vase. I think they’re a great choice for:

  • Bridal bouquets
  • Bridesmaid/bridal party bouquets
  • Centerpieces
  • Aisle flowers
  • And as a bonus, their monthly flower subscription would make a great wedding gift!

My UrbanStems Wedding Bouquet Review

I’ve ordered from UrbanStems before (and loved them!) but decided to order one of their more wedding-worthy arrangements to assess it up close.

Selection

You can filter UrbanStems’ arrangements into “wedding flowers” to get a good head start on making your choice, but I wouldn’t just limit yourself to those. They carry a ton of other stunning arrangements in all sorts of color palettes that work for every couple, from classic to unconventional.

Here are a few of my favorite UrbanStems arrangements for wedding flowers:

The Margot

This is the bouquet that I ordered. I’m a sucker for ranunculus and anemones, and I thought the peachy pink combo with pops of white and silvery green would work for any classic, vintage, or boho-style wedding. I think this one is perfect for a centerpiece or bridesmaid bouquet, and the double size would make a gorgeous bridal bouquet. You could even cluster a few together to use as ceremony flowers, then move them to the tables for reception centerpieces.

Triple the Peony

I love the idea of walking down the aisle with a massive armful of peonies. This one comes in three sizes (hence the name), so you can even use the smaller arrangements as bridesmaid bouquets. It also comes in all-white “The Pearl” or a multi-color bundle of whatever peonies are freshest, “The Grower’s Choice Peony.”

Double the Nurturer

This is a less traditional bouquet, but I love these colors and textures for a moody late-fall wedding. This one’s romantic, unique, and a little wild.

The Juliet

I can just picture a bunch of these in mismatched amber glass vases or even mason jars (are we still doing that?) scattered along farm tables for the perfect country wedding. I love a wildflower look for wedding centerpieces, and this one checks all the boxes while remaining elevated and polished looking.

Pricing and Shipping

UrbanStems’ bouquets are comparably priced to other floral delivery services, and very reasonably priced compared to a lot of wedding florists. Even their triple-sized arrangements run around $175 to $230, which is significantly cheaper than a lot of even modestly sized bridal bouquets.

They offer same-day shipping in select cities, but if you’re ordering flowers for your wedding I would make sure to get them at least a day or two in advance. If you’re not going to rearrange the bouquets, you’ll probably be fine getting them delivered the day before the wedding (the anxiety in me wants to urge you to get them two days before, just in case there are shipping delays or unforeseen circumstances).

If you’re ordering flowers to pull apart and rearrange yourself (into boutonnieres, in bud vases, or something like that) you’re going to want the extra day to do that—trust me on this. It takes longer than you’d think.

Either way, if you’re getting married on a Saturday, I’d recommend getting the flowers delivered on Wednesday or Thursday. Don’t worry about them lasting—both of the arrangements I ordered from UrbanStems so far lasted well beyond a week before even starting to show signs of wilting.

You can select your exact delivery day when you check out, so you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your flowers are slotted to show up exactly when you need them. Both times that I ordered from UrbanStems, they were delivered on the day I selected with no delays.

Ordering your wedding flowers through a company like UrbanStems is an especially great option if you’re getting married somewhere that’s a little off the beaten path. They deliver all across the country, even to places where you might struggle to find a local florist. UrbanStems could save you loads of money on paying a florist to travel to your wedding location.

The UrbanStems Wedding Bouquet I Ordered

My arrangement arrived safely and well-packaged on the date I had selected, though it did arrive later in the evening—something to keep in mind if you’re ordering for a wedding.

I chose the single Margot, but if I were going to use it as a wedding bouquet, I would probably pick the double for some extra drama. The Margot costs $88, and Double the Margot costs $176 (though it’s currently on sale for $158). Either way, it makes a super affordable wedding bouquet.

My bouquet arrived perfectly fresh in a cardboard box. A lot of flower delivery services tend to ship flowers a few days before they’re in full bloom to ensure that they’re not past their peak by the time they get to you. That’s all well and good, but it doesn’t really work for wedding flowers when you need them to look perfect on an exact day. (Plus, I’ve had bad experiences with other flower delivery services where some of the flowers began to wilt before others had even bloomed.

My UrbanStems bouquet arrived at its peak and stayed perfect for over a week before it started to droop (I made sure to refresh the water every day or two). It was artfully arranged and bundled together with rubber bands, then wrapped in paper and cellophane.

If you wanted to use it as a wedding bouquet, I honestly wouldn’t even take the rubber bands off. Just remove the cellophane and tissue paper, trim the stems, wrap the whole thing in your choice of ribbon, lace, or burlap (depending on the vibe), and head down the aisle!

Ok, so you probably don’t want your flowers arriving on your doorstep minutes before you’re going to walk down the aisle, so trim the stems and plunk them down into a vase of water. My point is, the flowers already arrived perfectly arranged, so I wouldn’t mess with them too much. If you’re using them as centerpieces, you can trim them and place them in your vases before removing the rubber band to maintain their shape as much as possible.

That’s what I did here:

Other than hiring a professional wedding florist who will perfectly arrange and execute everything to your vision (but could cost a decent chunk of your budget), ordering your flowers this way is probably the easiest, most stress-free way to go. It’s not quite as budget-friendly as DIYing everything from scratch, but it will save you a ton of work and stress.

If You’re Looking for Something Different…

If UrbanStems doesn’t feel like the right fit for your wedding flowers, I would recommend one of these alternatives:

  • Fifty Flowers: This is where I ordered the flowers I used to DIY my wedding centerpieces. They’re not exactly cheap, but you can choose from a huge variety of flower types and colors. I especially like their DIY kit bundles. I also think they’d work great in tandem with a bridal bouquet from UrbanStems.
  • The Bouqs Co: Like UrbanStems, The Bouqs Co primarily delivers arrangements and gifts, but they also have a few wedding packages available. The styles are limited but versatile, and they’re pretty affordable if you want to order flowers online but don’t want to DIY everything.

Should You Order Your Wedding Flowers From UrbanStems?

If you’re looking for an easy, elegant, and relatively affordable way to handle some (or even all) of your wedding flowers, UrbanStems is absolutely worth considering. Their arrangements are beautiful, well-packaged, and require almost no effort to get wedding-ready—which, if you’ve planned a wedding, you know is worth its weight in gold.

While they might not be the right fit for every wedding, they’re a great option for bouquets and centerpieces in particular, especially for people in areas where finding a local florist might be tricky. I’ve been genuinely impressed by their arrangements, both in terms of quality and aesthetics.
