Honeylove CrossOver Bra Review: How This Underwire-Lover Became A Soft-Cup Convert

Before I begin this review, I need to share one (very) long-held truth about myself: For the past 30+ years, every single bra that’s ever been in my daily rotation has had an underwire.

It’s always been a matter of support, being a person “gifted” with large breasts as far back as my teenage years. And then adding in childbirth, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations throughout my life, gravity, and my apparently “entirely fatty breasts,” as noted in my mammogram report (rude, right?!), an underwire has been the only type of bra I could wear to keep the girls up where they belong in the limelight.

This isn’t hyperbole or marketing fluff. The CrossOver bra from Honeylove has changed my mind about needing an underwire.

Forever.

From the comfort to the support and even the style, the CrossOver ticks every box in my search for the perfect bra, and I’m someone who hates bra shopping with a passion.

The Honeylove CrossOver bra is perfect if you:

  • Need the support of an underwire without the discomfort of one
  • Are looking for a full-coverage bra beneath your wedding dress or formal wear
  • Want to eliminate any (and every) hint of sideboob
  • Need a bra that fits from 30A to 44G
  • Don’t want to shop for a bra in a physical store

As I’ll talk about later on, this full-coverage bra won’t accommodate every type of dress bodice or neckline, particularly those that are low-cut in the front or back.

The best wedding and formal bodices to pair with the CrossOver bra would be:

  • Scoop neck
  • High neck
  • V-neck (if not low-cut)
  • Square neck

If your dress falls into any of those categories, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about this bestseller from Honeylove, starting at the beginning.

My Experience With Bra Shopping At Honeylove

So I already mentioned that I hate shopping for bras. I really, really do. It’s an excursion I’d always put off for as long as humanly possible before finally dragging myself (kicking and screaming) to the mall in the hope of finding something that would get the job done well enough, and then rewarding myself with a treat from the food court afterward as a consolation prize for all my troubles.

I never shopped for a bra online because I always felt like I needed to do it in person to try them on. Between Honeylove’s sizing chart, their “Find My Size” quizlet, and their free 30-day return/exchange policy, it turns out that you can successfully buy a bra (that fits) without ever setting foot in a department store.

The first CrossOver bra I bought from Honeylove was a bit on the small side because I, in my infinite wisdom, thought I knew my size.

Turns out I was wrong. The bra I’d been wearing daily (38DD) has sort of stretched alongside me with time, and apparently, I now wear a G cup.

I’m a little dismayed about that, not gonna lie, but I digress.

Pro tip so you can learn from my mistake: Take your measurements and follow the chart (and this walkthrough) before you place your bra order at Honeylove. If you can’t measure yourself, enlist the help of a close friend or partner.

There’s far less risk involved if you take your measurements first, and even if the bra doesn’t fit perfectly, you can return or exchange it, for free, within 30 days.

When the right-sized bra arrived on my doorstep a few days later and I tried it on, it was like a switch flipped and I immediately ordered another because it’s just that comfortable.

How The CrossOver Bra Fits, Feels, And Looks

No matter what size you wear, the CrossOver bra offers full coverage with a side- and back-smoothing design that looks great with or without clothing.

The biggest surprise of all was the amount of lift it provides for large breasts. I still can’t get over the support of this bra, given that there’s no wire in sight. The CrossOver bra uses something called a “bonded cradle” in place of an underwire for optimal comfort and support, and it works like you wouldn’t believe.

Although there is light padding, the molded foam cups provide perfect shaping and support, although you can remove them if you choose to. The inside of each cup has a small, purposely constructed slit that allows access to remove or adjust the pads.

This is especially helpful on laundry day, because if you’ve ever had a bra that features a “floating” pad inside the cup, you’re familiar with the struggle that ensues when trying to get it unfolded and straightened out.

The CrossOver bra’s band is thick(ish) but super flexible so while it presses against your skin firmly, your rib cage doesn’t feel suffocated by it. At no point does this bra dig into my skin, even after hours of constant wear.

Along the side of each cup, there is a sort of “boning” in place that helps to smooth and contour everything, keeping sideboob at bay. Still, even that is so comfortable you can’t even tell it’s there.

I absolutely love the way this bra looks and feels. They say it feels “like a second skin,” and they’re really not kidding about that.

One of the best things about this bra is the fact that it’s convertible, meaning that the back of each strap detaches so you can criss-cross them to accommodate different dresses, shirts, or tank tops.

I’m in love with the navy shade, but the bra is currently offered in other “fun” colors that include ruby (bright red), fig (deep maroon), and pink cloud (baby pink), along with basics like astral (white), vamp (black), and sand (tan), among others.

The one thing I noticed when shopping for the CrossOver bra was the lack of skin tone shade variety. This is potentially important when you’re looking for a bra to wear beneath a white dress (of the wedding kind, for instance) and don’t want to risk your bra being visible beneath your clothing.

While the CrossOver is available in astral white, we all know how easily a stark white bra can be seen through white or lighter material if it’s at all sheer.

As it stands, the only true skin-like shade available with the CrossOver bra is “sand,” a light tan color. The “blush” color option is perhaps more porcelain for those who are very fair, but anyone with skin darker than “sand” would have to choose that or defer to “vamp,” a solid black shade.

I’d really like to see more inclusivity with skin tone color options, similar to what Honeylove offers with their LiftWear Cami (which includes rose tan and espresso) or the cinnamon shade found in the Cami Bodysuit.

If the bra were to be made available in blush, sand, rose tan, cinnamon, and espresso, there’d be enough of a range for most people to match their skin tones more closely.

That’s really the only downside to this otherwise-perfect wireless bra. It’s shapewear for your breasts, and it fits like a dream.

(When you order the right size, of course.)

Pros And Cons Of The CrossOver Bra

The CrossOver bra from Honeylove is amazing, but no bra is absolutely perfect for every situation.

CrossOver Bra Pros

  • It offers incredible full coverage and support without an underwire.
  • The cup and band design eliminates sideboob and smooths everything you’ve got going on.
  • The straps are detachable in the back to be worn criss-crossed if needed or preferred.
  • The inside of the cups features a small crafted slit that allows easy access to adjust or remove the thin foam padding.
  • Shopping and purchasing online can be done with confidence, between all of the sizing instruction, guides, and the 30-day return/exchange policy if it doesn’t fit.

CrossOver Bra Cons

  • It is on the expensive side, at least compared to budget department store bras.
  • There are a limited number of color options (including skin color-matching, of which is there only one, “sand”) and no fabric prints.
  • It’s full-coverage, so it may not accommodate all formal dresses or styles, particularly those that are low-cut in the front or back.

Closing Thoughts

I never imagined that I’d be recommending a soft-cup bra to anyone, but here I am, doing exactly that. The CrossOver from Honeylove offers support and contouring I did not expect… but definitely more than welcome.

If you’re searching for the perfect bra to wear beneath your wedding gown or formalwear, it’s a perfect shaping solution that pairs well with scoop, square, high, and V-neck bodices, especially for full-day (or all-night) events.

The last thing you want to be worrying about on the happiest day of your life is an underwire digging into your ribcage. The excitement that comes with taking your bra off at the end of your wedding night should be for other, much sexier reasons, right?
